The chances are you’ve already played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 to death already but here goes my review anyway. Let’s start with the single player game. It’s small. I breezed through it on Hardened mode in 6 hours but man was that an intense six hours of my life. Played with the surround sound full blast on a huge HDTV, this has to be one of the most cinematic games you’ll ever play and the game engine has noticeably improved! Throwing you into the action you have to dodge helicopters raining from the skies, ride on speedboats and snowmobiles, emerge from underwater and save a load of hostages on an oil rig and even watch missiles explode from space.And of course there’s that very uncomfortable level in the airport which, although disturbing to play, does give rise to an vital plot point to justify Russia’s invasion of the US. It’s far-fetched and the plot doesn’t make that much sense as it’s all told using radio chatter and OTT news-style graphics in between levels. The gameplay mechanic is nearly exactly the same as the last two COD games too so you should be able to just jump in and get on with it. So, in essence, if you’re only in it for the single player mode, I suggest you just rent this one.But, if you’re a multiplayer fan then you simply must get this game as it will keep on giving for months to come. Infinity Ward have expanded ten-fold on what they gave us the last time round. Back again are all the game modes you delight in with a whole host of new maps set in Afghanistan, a favela, the airport and other levels inspired by the single player game but the sheer amount of perks and extras you can get makes this the most addictive thing you’ll ever play. Not only do you get perks for killstreaks which you can now choose, you also get ones that help you out if you’re dying a lot. And there’s those care packages. Simply drop a flare and a random crate drops from the sky which could be anything from a UAV, UAV jammer or ammo to much larger things like Predator missiles, airstrikes and even a harrier which deals death from above. And if you’re into two-player co-op the new Spec Ops mode will also give you hours if not days of entertainment as you work through these more arcade-style missions with a friend. I really can’t stress enough how excellent the multiplayer is in Modern Warfare 2. Single player will punch you in the face and you’ll delight in it but, like that afore-mentioned punch, it’s over very quickly.

If you want to have your friend on your team, though, Mercenary is basically a 50/50 chance since the teams are mixed and matched after every round.

Ground War

If you like the craziness of huge games with a large number of players than Ground War will be your favorite multiplayer mode. In Ground War two teams of up to 9 vs 9 compete either for the most points and kills or for control of flags (which also count toward points). If you like the frantic, bullets everywhere style of play Ground War is one of the most visceral and intense modes in the game. Even with so many players on screen the framerate of the game is very excellent, with small to no lag. Sometimes the teams can get a bit too large and it is hard to keep track of everyone but for experience players who like working with a team this is a fantastic mode.

Free For All

One of the most well loved multiplayer modes because of its simplicity, Free For All is just that, a game where each player fends for himself. For those new to the game and who have distress distinguishing between teammates and friends, Free For All is a excellent mode because everyone is your enemy. You won’t have to reckon twice when you see someone run across your screen, you can just aim and shoot. You don’t have the teammate dynamic in Free For All but you do have to adjust your gameplay to assume that there could be foes all around you. Unlike in a team game where you are often defending an area or are pushing up against a specific area, in Free For All the entire map is perilous.

Gameplay

From a gameplay perspective, Call of Duty 4 feels pretty much like CoD2 and 3. The controls are the same, and other things like the grenade danger indicator are all present and accounted for. One area where CoD4 is a bit different is that it seems to be much quicker paced than the previous games in the series. Thanks to a very generous lock on system where you can just tap the left trigger and your gun automatically moves to the next target (this can be turned off if you want), you can clear buildings and power through firefights extremely quickly. Personally, I really like this because it makes you truly feel like a badass. You are playing as a fully trained and highly skilled soldier, and the gameplay really makes you feel like one. It is absolutely a thrill to enter a room and kill three guys in less than three seconds with precision bursts. The whole game is just smooth and simple to control and absolutely satisfying.

Single-Player The Call of Duty games have always had fantastic single-player experiences, and CoD4 is no different. It clocks in at only 6-7 hours, but it is filled with incredible moments that are going to be absolutely worth replaying. You play as a few different characters through the game, but you are always a member of a small but highly trained squad that can get in, do their job, and get away safely. You cover a lot of honestly varied terrain, and the straight up FPS shooting is broken up with vehicle gunner segments, silent mission where stealth is the key, and a couple of sniper missions that are probably my favorite two missions in any FPS ever. It also needs to be noted that your AI squadmates are really really smart and really skilled and can more than hold their own.

Multiplayer

As excellent as the campaign is, the Xbox Live multiplayer is where you will probably spend most of your time if you are a hardcore FPS fan. It comes with plenty of maps and game types for up to 18 players, and you can choose from a ton of options to make the game play pretty much how you like. CoD4 is more of a slow paced, Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon style of game rather than the run and gun style of Halo and isn’t going o be as immediately accessible for players. It is far more satisfying in the long run for dedicated players than Halo, but, thanks to the experience and perk system that rewards you with new skills and abilities the more you play. All in all, CoD4 is a blast to play online that offers some of the deepest and most rewarding multiplayer you’ll find.

Graphics and Sound  Without a doubt, Call of Duty 4 is one of the nicest looking games on the Xbox 360. The environments are really the stars of the show here, and the battle hurt cities, building interiors, forests, and grassy fields all look realistic and fantastic. The lighting effects are also spectacular and really set everything off.
The sound is also impressive all around. Fantastic music, fantastic sound effects, and mostly fantastic voice acting make CoD4 a treat for the ears as well as the eyes.

Bottom Line
Call of Duty 4 has been in the works for a long time at Infinity Ward, and all of the effort has certainly been worth it. It has a fantastic single-player campaign, a fun and deeply rewarding multiplayer game, and wraps it all up in some of the best graphics and sound on the Xbox 360. My only real complaint is that there is no co-op play. The campaign is so fun and exciting and having a friend along for the ride would have made this already fantastic game truly exceptional. That issue aside, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a fantastic game that is highly recommended for a buy.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has been long awaited by many gaming fans. It has also been closely looked at by critiques. And not only have fans and critiques been waiting for the arrival of the game, so have outsiders. People who uneasily wondered about what controversy and violence would be in number two.

For fans of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, the day couldn`t have come quick enough. And games flew off the stocked shelves at record speeds, in fact stores just couldn`t keep up with the demand. And why were stores overwhelmed that day? Because over 310 million dollars were sold around the world in just 24 hours! And with those kinds of sales, stores had better been equipped with extra staff not to mention extra games. It had been long anticipated because number one game out a few years ago, leaving a huge gap in between. The game`s makers must have needed all that time to unwrap the content of the game piece by piece until it had just the right amount of gory, brutality and strategy that the game is well loved for.

The game contains all of the same drama that is loved in the first one. There is unbelievable gore and blood and savage killings. For an outsider walking by someone playing the game, it would look just as disturbing as its first half. The differences in the new one is the `Special Ops` feature, where you can answer a scene with a friend. That new aspect seems to be pretty well loved.

The game also seems to look its best when played in full multi-player mode. The game also gives players loads of incentives as they travel through the game, you can also customize special abilities and weapon classes giving it a more personal side. There are lots of strategies that can be used in this game, making it a welcoming challenge for players. There is also a new infamous level called the `no Russian` where players can have a terror attack on an airport and kill civilians. It is the most disturbing and controversial act in gaming that has yet to be seen.

On a darker note, many people looking at these kinds of video games have lots of opinions about it. For example in countries such as Germany, they are thinking about banning violent video games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. They feel that in light of current events, that it is not wise to showcase such violent acts on others. Other countries wonder how the impact of such despise crimes and international laws will play out and what kind of consequences might unfold because of the controversy. They argue that game companies should be more responsible.

For fans and dedicated gamers, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 met there expectation, although a few might argue that it was a tad disappointing. That stems from the sheer hype over the game`s arrival and anticipation. I have just completed a survey of 100 Modern Warfare players to find out what they wanted from our call of duty guide coming out in November. First of all we want to thank all the players that took part in the survey we had lots of fantastic suggestions for the guide. Here is the top ten things that people wanted to see most in a MW2 online combat guide.
1) All secret spots and glitches to be revealed and easily accessible. So as soon as you see someone online in a new place ,(or one you cant get to).
2) What classes to have set up for each game variety or even each map. Description of best perks and why.
3) Team strategy’s, so that when you play with your mates you have a plot for games like team death match.
4) How to get Xp points the fastest, which games to play etc.
5) How to find and join clans online.
6) What guns to use when. Also what guns to try and get and which guns not to bother with.
7) The best (and simplest) way to complete all the challenges when playing online.
Players wanted any specific problems gamers had (on a map or game type) answered by the top pro’s.
9) The ‘ Go To’ spots on all maps, to get the most kills on games like Hardcore Search and Ruin.
10) Strategies for when you play any game variety. ‘What should I be doing on Sabotage?’ ‘Should I be camping on Free for All?’
I have loved reading all the responses to the survey and got some fantastic new thoughts for our call of duty guide coming in November.

We here at Modern Warfare 2 gamer have done a review on the internet of what is out there in terms of Call of Duty online multiplayer guide. And what we found was some very basic guides to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and a few scattered pieces of literature for Call of Duty: world at war. If you are lucky enough to know a excellent forum there are three or four very excellent ones. Where people will happily discuss tactics and weapon classes for any game variety!

There are so many game variations and possible tactics involved when it comes to playing Call of Duty it is hard to know what to do best! Should I find a spot on a map on free for all and try and stay there all level and pick people of as they run past? Or should I run about like a headless chicken and get in as much fighting as possible? On search and ruin should I sit right back and wait to avoid new tube’s or run straight for the front line? A major talking point in the forums is which weapon classes you should use and in which games? Its hard to know what is best as I am sure certain classes will suit certain players, i.e. and aggressive player might not see the need in UAV jammer. There are also game theory problems that people must address when playing the more tactical games such as hardcore search and ruin, sabotage or headquarters. A excellent strategy is to watch people who have a really high score and see what there up to!

As the arrival date for Modern Warfare 2 approaches all the forums will be buzzing with excitement about the new game. Hopefully us here at Modern Warfare 2 gamer will be able to make some excitement about our upcoming Call of Duty online multiplayer guide!
